The Sleep Republic Mattress is a 31cm hybrid mattress from Sleep Republic, which designs its mattresses in Melbourne and is part of the Sleep Collective group. Sleep Republic says its vetted manufacturers build the mattress to its specifications in China, and that it has been designing mattresses for over 30 years.

It combines ECOLAY natural latex, gel-infused memory foam and a 5-zone pocket spring system with up to 2,500 individually wrapped springs, and has a single-sided pillow top. Sleep Republic describes the feel as medium firm, promotes the mattress as "Choice Recommended 6 Years in a row", and offers a 150-night trial and a 12-year warranty.

150-Night Trial

Sleep Republic offers a 150-night trial and recommends giving the mattress at least 14 days before requesting a return through its Returns Form, and also asks for a photo of the mattress's condition. The mattress must be undamaged and unmarked. Returned mattresses are donated to charity or recycled, and are never resold by Sleep Republic. 12-Year Warranty

The Sleep Republic Mattress is covered by a 12-year warranty against defects in materials or workmanship, including split foam or latex and broken or protruding springs. Free Delivery

Delivery is free to most metro areas, including Canberra and Hobart, and to most inner regional areas, and outer regional delivery is $99. In metro Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide, Perth, Brisbane and the Gold Coast, orders placed by 2pm are eligible for next business day delivery, subject to stock. Mattresses are delivered to the ground-floor front door.

Delivered in a Box

Each mattress is vacuum sealed and rolled, then packed in a carton with wheels and a handle. Sleep Republic recommends opening it within 14 days of delivery, and notes a slight "new bed" odour that fades.

Mattress Care

Sleep Republic recommends always using a mattress protector, and cleaning stains by carefully wiping or dabbing with a damp cloth, without solvents or chemicals. The mattress does not need flipping but should be rotated head to foot regularly. The mattress is suitable for solid, straight timber slat bases.

Hybrid Construction

The Sleep Republic Mattress is a hybrid, combining pocket springs with foam and latex comfort layers. Sleep Republic's mattress technology page lists a Cashmere Blend Knitted Fabric cover, an ECOLAY natural latex top comfort layer, a gel-infused memory foam pressure relief layer, 5-zone HD pocket springs and a Reinforced Dynamic Border. The product page also describes a single-sided pillow top, adding plush cushioning over a stable, supportive core.

Zoned Support

Sleep Republic says not all springs are equal: its pocket springs are zoned to be firmer at the head, lower back and feet and softer at the shoulders and knees, to help keep your spine aligned. Each of the individually wrapped springs moves independently, and the top comfort layer is also zoned through a specialised quilting pattern.

Temperature and Breathability

Sleep Republic says the gel-infused memory foam helps dissipate heat, and that the ECOLAY latex has ventilation holes that help regulate body temperature. Breathable side panels, made from a material used in athletic apparel, and the open coil structure are designed to help airflow, and the cashmere blend cover is described as naturally temperature-regulating and breathable.

Motion Isolation

Sleep Republic rates the mattress's motion isolation as excellent on its mattress technology page. It says the individually wrapped springs significantly reduce motion transfer, and that the gel-infused memory foam also provides excellent motion isolation. Its technology page lists couples and side sleepers as the sleepers the mattress is best for.

Who It Suits

Sleep Republic describes the feel as medium firm and calls the mattress a great all-rounder, best for couples and side sleepers. It says its pocket springs suit different body types and sleep positions and are ideal for hot sleepers, and that its natural latex is ideal for allergy sufferers. As a general guide, it lists weight limits of 120kg for a Single, 150kg for a King Single and 250-300kg combined for a Queen or King.
